She Started the process around 12pm. Gets my hair in the foils and then I wait. This whole time I was never placed under a salon hair dryer chair. Seemed odd, but thought the stylist knew what she was doing. When she's done she dries my hair and styles it. But when I see the final result it turned out I still had 'hot roots' and the balyage was close to nonexistent!

Its been a year and i'm still having to deal with super damaged hair.

Valerie was absolutely precise and what a talent attending to my eyebrow microblading. If you can withstand a tad of beauty pain to achieve the eyebrow look, Valerie the "artist" to see. Made the appt. Sat, Apr 29 coming in from Austin,Tx. Due to rave reviews, was not disappointed, worth the drive. Looking forward to my 4 to 6 weeks fill-in appt. Highly recommend Valerie and very pleased with Spago Salon / Spa. Jessica Horta-Perez from Austin, Tx.

One Pic shows my 'hot roots' photo and how I endend up after a “color correction” and a balyage at Spago (the reason I originally went in to Spago). The other pic is a comparison of the Spago balyage vs and the balyage correction done at the De Sanchez.

I was shocked! Again I demand to speak with the owner or the manager, but the stylist was hesitant. I told her i was not going back for her to "fix" my color again. She had already tried and failed twice! Not to mention completely frying my hair because she did the whole peroxide-foils twice in a day!

I grew up in McAllen and now live in the DC area. I came home to visit my family; we have a very important event planned for tonight and my hair appointment with Spago was for this morning. I made my hair color appointment with Spago months ago and told the girl on the phone I had my own formula. She told me to just bring it in on the day of my appointment. Three days before arriving to McAllen, I got a call from my assigned hairdresser, Rita, that she wanted my formula over the phone, so I gave it to her. Yesterday, the day before my appointment, I got an automatic text to confirm my appointment, which I did. Shortly after, Rita calls and now wants a picture sent to her of my written formula which I was happy to send her. Later that afternoon around 4:30, she calls me and says she is missing 2 of the ingredients for my formula. Her excuse was that the girl who orders the formula hasn't been coming in. She basically cancelled my appointment. I wasn't really surprised; this is the RGV after all, but still disappointed.

Very poor customer service skills from the manager and the stylist! They never apologized, they tried to blame me for the stylist's lack of knowledge, no one took ownership of the issue and the manager did not seem to want to take the time to address the complaint.

Ok. I tell her I'm not happy and she offered to fix it if i still had time. I agreed and she then proceeded to restart the whole process: peroxide, foils, this time she sits me in the chair, washes, styles, etc.

About an hour later the manager or owner calls and is very dismissive of my comments, stating that the stylist is wonderful and that she would never do a bad job. Says she has cameras and that she saw it was a 6hr color treatment and again that I had paid very little for the job that would usually cost about $80per hour! I was furious!!!

I go in to Spago because I wanted a color correction (I had dark brown hair and wanted to go lighter, got a loreal box at walmart and I colored my hair my hair at home. I developed lighter roots or 'hot roots').

At the end the manager agreed to refund me and mailed me a check... but my hair was screwed!

I arrive at Spago and Belen quotes me for the correction and recommends a balyage for a total of $260.

When she finished styling, again, my hair did not look as I expected. But I paid and went home. I thought maybe I was just too tired and should look at my hair in the morning.

Next day. O.M.G. Hair looked like it was on fire! I almost cried. Called the salon asking to speak with the manager but the receptionist told me i would not be able to speak to the manager only to the stylist! I did not want to talk to the stylist at all! So the receptionist said she would talk to the manager and that the manager would call me back.

10 min later...the stylist calls!! and she is accusing me of taking 6hrs of her time for the balyage! and that SHE did ME A FAVOR not charging me extra because the color correction is usually charged by the hour!!

I'll never come to this place ever again. My hairstylist Abel did a mess to my hair. I went in just for haircolor and somehow I ended up with a so called "haircut". I thought oh well I do need a haircut so I went with it. Abel cut my hair then he blowdried it with the infuser. Oh my goodness, having curly hair that did not look like a $50 hairstyle. My hair never looked this bad coming out of a salon. I told Abel that I didnt like it and he got upset. Said if I had time, he'll wash and style it again, so I said yes. He did his thing and I just ended up getting more upset but I said the hair was fine just to get out of there. Next day, I realized that one side was shorter than the other. I called the salon to get my refund so that I may get it fixed elsewhere and was told to come pick it up. I went over and Abel was at the front counter. He said he didnt see anything wrong with my hair and said there was no refund there for me. I left very upset and about 20 minutes later on my way home, he texted me to tell me how ungrateful I was. Like "really" what kind of "professional" does that and who texts a client like that. Then the next day another employee called me to asked why hadnt I picked up my refund, told her Abel said that there was nothing there for me. She then proceeds to tell me that Abel said I just didnt want to pay for my service and that was the reason I was complaining. All around this was the worse experience ever at any beauty salon, definately not worth the price nor the harassment.

I finally went to a different spa (De Sanchez) a week later and they did an amazing job fixing the mess Belen from Spago had done.

This is a veryyyy long review about a color correction and balyage from a little over 1yr ago:

They aren't honoring gift certificates we bought there, it's always some lame excuse or the run around. Stay away

So about 6hrs have passed in total. By this time I am exhausted and stressed, I just want to get out of there.
